AAC Footwell Lighting!

Ok so I already installed my footwell lighting and wired it to my dome light so that it comes on when the doors are unlocked or open.

I also wanted the option to turn them on when the dome light was off.

I pondered this for a day or two and finally came up with this.

In the first picture you can see I wired to the dome light.

I decided to wire a switch to the lights....but how to make them work with both the dome light and the switch. Well I installed a switch in the center counsel.

I then tapped the positive wires from the Footwell lighting and took them to the input on the switch. I also tapped the ground from the lighting and took that wire to the switch as well.

I then took a positive lead from the fuse box to the input on the switch.

The result is a success. The lights come on with the door open, unlock button pushed and with the dome light switch. With a simple flick of the switch I installed the lights stay on until I turn them off.

Really good idea and setup . Something I actually want to do with mine. Couple questions:

It looks like you have the orange interior trim (can't see seats but I assume they are too).

Are they the Amber color? Does it look good and orange?

Which type of strip did you go with as I think they had 2 types, and how long (12" or 15")? Why did you choose that type?

Where are your lights under the hood and what type are those?

Ok, it was more than a COUPLE questions.
Thanks!

The interior lights are the Amber footwell lighting from AAC (flexable strips) I think they are the 12". I also have their amber LED inerior and trunk light bulbs. Yeas I do have the IOM Interior.

Under the hood are just lights I baught from Autozone. The one over the radiator is a
18" stip and the the ones in the engine cover are 6" strips.

Cool!

In your opinion, does the Amber LED Dome light give you sufficient light to read something at night (i.e. a map, the owners manual, a speeding ticket , etc.).

I like the look but am concerned about function as well (for the dome light).

So the footwell strips are the type (non-CCFL) that did NOT have an inverter inline in the wiring? If so they must be their LED strip.

Is your switch a SPST or DPDT switch. It looks like SPST.

Thanks!

I think it does but i have 20 / 15 vision also. No there is no inline inverter in the wiring. It is just a SPST I baught from autozone for 3 bucks I think.
