All Stick Drivers - Cruise Control

For those with a manual, well I know for sure my LS3 is this way but someone with a V6 would have to chime in to be sure.

Today I was driving and coming to a stop sign with the car in neutral. By chance my thumb grazed the set cruise speed switch on the steering wheel while I was moving my hand down and the engine began to rev. I caught it immediately so it only got up to 2500 or so. I would have figured Chevy would have put in some kinda safe guard against the cruise engaging while the car is in neutral.

I guess it isn't really a big deal for someone who understands what they did, but what if your spouse or someone not used to a manual car were driving and it happened to them. I am pretty sure the computer has a rev limiter for the engine but still.

Just wanted to share this since I don't remember seeing any posts about it.

So you put the car in neutral and bumped the cruise control switch and it revved?

I can try that on my car and let you know.

i thought cruise control wasn't supposed to even activate until you were doing over 25mph in most cars

Yeah it was trying to make me go while in neutral, but like SSRS said you have to be above the speed required to make the cruise engage..

SSRS you are correct, mine will activate at 24 mph. I was doing about 30 mph when it happened. I had just put the car in neutral to coast before breaking for a stop sign.
