radar detector dash pod

I was thinking of updating my radar detector with a new Escort, and thought it'd be cool to have a small pod it would fit inside that would look like part of the dash, mounted dead center, just high enough for the detector to clear the hood and wipers, open on the windshield side, and with a smoke cover on the dash side.

A no-drill no-screw mount. Maybe clip to the HVAC vent at the bottom of the windshield.

The idea is to look as discreet as possible.

I think there would be a market for this.

Matching the grain and color of the dash would be the hard part.

Excellent idea! But I think it will get about as far as the gauge pod idea I had for where the center speaker grill is...

The higher on the windshield, the better.

Yep. Can't understand the 'mounting' I see on the road. Near the dash, behind the wipers or aiming up at the clouds are my two favorties

i have mine on the top left corner of windshield and my tinted visor covers it so it is out of sight from the outside peoples looking in. Wire runs down the a pillar and below the steering wheel to the center console that I popped out and wired into the power outlet there becuase it is on only when key is on.

I've always wanted to try to pull one apart and put the sensors at the front and rear of car and mount the rest in the dash. Not sure if it would work though.

Radar Roy sells those kits too. They are usually mounted on the license plate.
