How do I activate my Nav system?

Hello to all,

Just picked up my new Camari with Navigation and when I was crusing down the highway my buddy told me it's not activated/working. Who do I contact to get this done....Sirius XM???? Also what's the difference between XM's so called "Travel Link" and the actual Navagation?????

Thanks for any help in this as I'm now confused

If you have a nav system your dealer can help you activate it. You should have a nav button on the side of the screen if you have navigation. Nav does not come standard on the 2LT, it is an option. Press the nav button and see if it comes up. Check your list of options to see if you really do have it. If so, call your dealership and they can tell you what you need to do to activate it.

I have the "nav" system in mine and it not the On star Nav I have that too just dont use it. The optional NAV is just like having a GPS/Tom Tom Nav in your car..

Guapo,

What little I do know is XM has some sort of traffic condition monitor that I have to activate i order to get freeway/street conditions. that is a separate deal other than the Navagation system.

I'll have to look into this much more as I do want to get all my options activated. Too bad a rep from Chevy couldn't chime in and give me some pointers.

Anyway I can get bye without it for now so all I need is to get the radio stations pre-set.

mailclerk,

I believe the XM feature you're referring to is their NavTraffic feature. Anything that is an XM service will require a subscription. Have you already tried to manage your trial subscription?

Sarah,

I have already contacted Sirius XM and according to there records (radio serial number) the entire unit is active along with any complimentary trials. Unfortunately for me all I can get so far is the XM stations along with AM/FM stations in my region. I've gone over my manual three times and it mentions nothing about the Navigation system at all.

Yesterday by internet I've initiated a "refresh" of my signal as that's what the XM rep told me it should correct all my issues. So far I've driven my newly bought Camaro twice and still according to the "My-Link" unit it tells me it's receiving no GPS signal.

As soon as I get my license plates I'm taking it to my local dealership to have the front bracket installed as the car was handed over to my without it installed. It'll be at that time I'll ask the dealership to help me set it up.

Anyway I'm pretty sure this is a minor issue and I don't want to blow this out of porportion. The car is under warranty anyway.

DON'T MOUNT THE LICENSE PLATE BRACKET!!!!!!! Get one of the special ones that mounts in the lower grill ... I even think Intimidator has one available in the for sale section ... if I had only known those were available ... hate to say it, but the Chevy ones distract from the front of the car, plus, as everyone says, they put holes in the bumper cover ... don't do it

Please look on your window sticker that listed all of the car's options. If you don't have one that says "Navigation System" for the amount of $795, then you do NOT have it and can save yourself all of the hassle and possible embarrassment of calling the dealer.
