Another BlueTooth question

Hey folks, new to the forum. I purchased my 2011 Camaro LS two days ago. I brought my Jeep Wrangler in for it's 5 year power train check and left with a Camaro.

I was told by the young salesmen that the vehicle was equipped with BlueTooth. When I got home the system wouldn't do anything.

So here are my questions;

Can I purchase the BlueTooth module install it and have the computer flashed to recognize it? Or

Does it have to run through OnStar with a subscription? I don't like the idea of paying for minutes.

Does anyone have the parts numbers?

I would also like to install the USB/Mini plug in the center console. The dealer said if it didn't come with it I'm hosed. I remember a thread where someone bought the GM part and had their dealer install it.

Does anyone have the part number for that.

The Camaro is new to me, last Chevy I owned was a 88 Monti Carlo SS.

Thnaks in advance,

Matt

The radio in the vehicle is a "UYE"

And above is a gratuitous pic of the new ride.

Hi Matt!

Love the Camaro! Thanks for posting the picture. I would be happy to assist with your inquiry. Could you provide me with your VIN? I would like to check with my internal resources and let you know what I find out. Thank you!

Congrats on your purchase! lol.. like the purchase story.. look at the Camaro long enough and it will force you to take it home!

Beware, i hear that when doing warranty work that can be voided by a tune, they can tell it's been flashed.

As far as i know, Bluetooth has nothing to do with OnStar.. i wouldn't buy any minutes either.

I'm not sure about part numbers, but i'm sure installing the usb can be done.

Sorry to hear you're having issues, hope the get sorted out!

Thanks for the replies, I am pasting a copy of the reply from GM customer service. If the car didn't roll off the line with BlueTooth it's not happening unless we go the aftermarket route.

"Thanks for the message. From your build sheet, the option code for Bluetooth on your Camaro is not listed, which means the vehicle does not support that feature. There is no way add it without exploring the aftermarket route, which we do not support since modifications can possibly void your warranty. I am unable to locate any information regarding the USB/Mini Plug you may be seeking. I would advise that any part numbers surrounding this be researched independently."

I'll keep looking for the usb/mini jack add on, I know I read it somewhere and it was "plug and play".

All the best,

Matt

I have some good news, I found the info on the Aux/usb/mini kit that goes in the center console.

Personal Device Interface Module Kit (PDIM)
GM part # 92244580
comes complete with module and harness, You can install it yourself, but you need to bring the car to the dealer for a radio flash upgrade.

While I'm doing this I am also going to add the steering wheel radio controls
GM part # 92219336

wiring harness for auto trans
GM part # 92236307

wiring harness for standard trans
GM part # 92236307

Hope this helps,

Matt
