coaxial/fm/am harness closed in trunk

hey i have a 2011 camaro ss convertible. The harness that controls the coaxial/fm/am and antennas/reception(the only harness in the trunk) has apparently been closing in the trunk over a period of time. I didnt have any idea that this was happening until a few days ago my radio wouldnt pick up any staions. It looks as if there is too much play in the harness(factory about 2 or 3 inches) and seems that the extra length caused it to crease the harness and split the wires inside it. Not only that but the weatherstrip is lightly punctured. I took it to Maxie Price Chevrolette to let them take a look at it. Due to fact that my camaro has 42,360 miles on it they said that they couldnt warranty this problem. $1600 is what they quoted me. Has anyone else had this this problem? Please HELP

ouch!!!! (this is a very uninformed, non-expert opinion) they must be re-stringing the entire coaxial, but even then that sounds way expensive, perhaps it goes up under trim and such all over? wonder if, on the cheap, you can splice in a piece of coaxial? At worst, get another estimate.
