New HUD installed by dealer - few issues

I finally had my defective HUD replaced by the dealer this week. The last time I took it in for my appointment to have it installed - they informed me the part had not arrive as of yet - right after I dropped the car off for the day and they didn't get back to me till later in the afternoon to come pick it up. Took them 3 weeks to get the part in. Yet no one called me the day of my appointment before I drove over there

Anyhow - the new HUD is very bright and crisp! I'm very happy with it. However, the technician working on the car did a poor job with removal/installation of my dash that I have light nicks all over it possibly from tools etc. I don't know whether to make a big deal about it and complain or just accept it. I'd hate for them to replace the dash with a new one and find out something else broke or needs replacing.

Reason I say this is because the Service Advisor told me that the last time a guy came in to have something fixed - the technician messed up his door panel which left a big scratch on it. The customer made a big deal about it and reported it in which the Service Advisor gave him hell on it and said it wasn't their doing. After dropping the car off to have it fixed/replaced - the customer found more damage done to the car possibly out of spite? Not sure why the Service Advisor told me this - however this was way before my HUD issue came up and I took the car in for an oil change.

Another note from yesterday's conversation with the Service Advisor - I asked him what they found wrong with the old HUD out of curiosity - he snapped back and responded " WHY DO YOU CARE!? " This guy must've had a bad day - however I noticed his personality seemed a little off from time to time when I go to drop the car off. Definitely not someone I would associate with.

Anyhow pics below -

New HUD

Pics of damage -

Pics of dash windshield vent not installed properly - cannot seem to adjust it myself. Driver side is pushed in too far and passenger side looks right.

OUCH.. that sucks.. I'd report the dealer & make a complaint to the store Manager.. then demand they fix it & take picks.. before and after.. I'd do it soon.. so they can't say any thing.. sorry your going though that.. I'd see if you can find someone better to help you at that dealership or go to a new one.. if you can...
Glad the HUD works & looks great.. bro
I think I'm still going to try to see if I can get the colored one.. at some point.. even if I have to do the install all on my own

Just called in to see about letting the Service Advisor know - however he is off today. Spoke with someone else and they are leaving a message for the Manager to call me back regarding this.

Good luck with the colored HUD. Let me know how it turns out! I just spoke with the Store Manager - heading over there now to show them the damage.

Just got back from the dealership and the Manager stated he would order me a new dash and for me to call the Service Advisor I worked with tmw when hes back in the office. This will be interesting to see how he responds. I hate being without a car for a few days - disappointing they don't provide courtesy cars such as some other dealerships do. Will have to carpool with my wife using our other vehicle.

When you take it in, wait on it. Let them know you have photos of the entire car.
Also, call GM. and let them know the whole story.

GM wants us happy and buying more vehicles.

NO Dealer should EVER damage a customer's vehicle!

Sorry to hear about the HUD/dash concerns, but it's great that you have interacted with your dealer about this situation. Please keep us posted on the process . We're here if additional assistance turns out necessary.

I will.. once I can start saving the money.. i'll let you know.. how it goes w/the colored one
Demand them to give you a car (or.. pick up & drop off van or.. rental car), I hate the fuel replacement.... but its better than paying for a months insurance for one of me cars/truck they have to do one of those.. if they know your going to be with out your car.. for so long

Spoke with the Service Advisor this morning and he informed me he was aware of what happened and to bring the car in. I told him the whole dash needed replacing and to let me know when the new dash arrives then I'll drop the car off. He then stated that the manager wanted the car in now. So looks like I'll be dropping it off on Tuesday next week - who knows how long I'll be without.
