There are quite a few differences in the 2 engines the ZL1 has an LSA and the ZR1 has an LS9.

The LSA has a 9.0 CR the LS9 a 9.1 CR
LSA has 1.9L supercharger and the LS9 a 2.3
LSA has a single intercooler the LS9 a dual unit
LSA has cast hypereutectic pistons the LS9 has forged
LSA has forged powdered metal rods LS9 has titanium
LS9 has titanium intake valves and sodium filled exhaust valves the LSA does not
LS9 has steel main caps the LSA has Iron
LS9 has a dry sump oil system LSA standard
LS9 is hand built as is the LS7 the LSA is an assembly line engine

The rest are pretty much the same.

2000 Red 1SC Z28 A4 - dead for now
2005 Black GTO M6 6.0 - Split daily driver
1987 Silver Fiero GT - Split daily driver
