Question Switchblade Ignition Key No longer issued

Picked up my 2015 last week and found out that Chevrolet has decided to discontinue issuing the switchblade ignition key. Well, not exactly. I got the switchblade fob with no key blade in it. Also received a separate key (old school) along with it.
Anybody know where I can get a switchblade key made? Or where I can take the two pieces to have them "rejoined"?

I don't think you can, but who knows, maybe ... I do have a question on the new fob though ... does it still look like they ripped it apart or did they re-do the fob to make it look normal like every other fob produced ... i.e. is the space for the key still there or do both sides look nice and smooth?

My 2012 Equinox came with the switchblade style and they haven't issued the same silly recall/refit for it yet!

Maybe he can buy the Equinox part and have it cut to match his Camaro key? the trick will be finding someone other than a dealer to do it as the dealers will prob shy away due to liability reasoning.... This all depends on whether his fob will still accept the switchblade key.

you can still buy the switchblade Camaro key from GM as well as ebay. Get a new one, preferably GM, all you have to do is get the key cut. Don't get a used one since it has already been matched to another car.

I took my key to a local locksmith. He cut two new blades for me and gave me the roll pins to put them back in my fobs. Now I use the dealer made ones for hiding one on the car and a spare for at home.

Also, a friend of mine said he broke the handle on a new one that the dealer gave him and what do ya know? He said it will fit back into the fob just using that same roll pin.

For those who regret having the recall performed, here's a new shell and key:

I made one of the old school keys into a switchblade, just removed it from the plastic, the notch for the split pin is right there, no issues with the security system. Took all of ten minutes - even with looking for something to use for a pin.
