Dipstick oil level confusion ('10 LS3)

Imgur

Link to the dipstick pic above. I just changed my oil. Haven't started the engine yet. It's showing around the 6 whenever I pull the dipstick out. Is this high? I don't want to start my engine if it's too high. Should it be in the crosshaired section?

If you put in the correct amount and have not started the engine, the oil filter will still be empty and the level will show high until the engine is started and fully fills the filter.
