GM Files Trademark for Z28 Moniker

The General has filed a trademark application to patent the name "Z28." Now on one hand the Camaro ZL1 is one hell of a machine and king of the Camaros with 580HP and 556 LB/FT of torque. On the other, the Shelby GT500 Mustang makes 662HP and 631 LB/FT of torque for 2013.

Z28 started out as an option code for race-prepped SS Camaros. Maybe it will be a step above the ZL1. It could also be a name change for the normal SS Camaro with the new Chevrolet SS sedan coming out next year. This would make sense as GM does not want to confuse potential customers.

It could also just be that GM wants to keep the name tied up, so nobody else can use it. This could be any number of things including a new version that fits somewhere in the lineup that we have not mentioned. Only time will tell.
