What if it were 1989...

...and we were all talking about purchasing a 1990 IROC-Z. Which would you spring for?

5.7 L98 245hp/345tq
700R4 (the only choice with that engine; with 3.23 gearing)

or

5.0 LB9 230hp/300tq
T5 (with G92 3.42 gearing)

Do you want to say you've got the "big" engine in your Camaro, or do you want to row your own gears and not be any slower than the "mighty" 5.7?

I'd choose the 305/5 speed combo. Make mine red with black interior.

I chose the 305 as well.

I had a 92 with a 305 and WC T-5 an I loved it!

I will never own an IROC though. I don't like mullets!

2005 CTSV BLACK LS7 Clutch/Flywheel/Slave, Tick Speed Bleeder, Tilton Clutch MC, RevShift Bushings, Domestic V8 Solutions (shifter, 8.8 Diff conversion, srut tower braces, sub-frame connectors), SLP cats, no cags, xpipe, bullet mufflers, Volante, iPod dock, G-force tune; 379hp 381tq.

Killing 5th gens like it is my job.

I had a 89 Iroc w/ 305, 5 Spd. I loved that car, and I miss it too.

We have several votes for the automatic, but no one is posting their opinion. Are you afraid of being picked on for choosing a slushbox?

I'd choose the 350, that way you guys would never be competition.

I'll take a C4 if I want a manual.

I have not driven the 1990 IROC 350 or 305 but I have driven both 305 RS and 350 Z on the 1992 model. 305 5 speed is slow and powerless. The 350 Z28 was a pretty quick car. A helluva lot faster than the 305

So I chose the AUTO, based on that comparison

Sold the 68
Ready for the 2010

Honestly if it were 1989 I'd be pretty upset about the state of automotive design and power, and definitely looking for something built in the 60's.

2011 Synergy Green Metallic 1SS Camaro:
RS Package, White Ralley Stripes, Premium Sound.
Mods; Flowmaster Exhaust, Vararam CAI, Pfadt Sport Suspension, Budnik "Ice" Wheels, Nitto Invo tires
Upcoming Mods; Custom grill and badging.
