Birds of a feather

Back when the 1st gen Firebirds were in the development stage, there were a couple of concepts the designers were toying with. The picture below is from the book The Fabulous Firebird. It shows two concepts that share a lot of Camaro cues. Thought ya would like to see... what if.

Wow. Any one of those look good, but my eyes are really set on that second one that looks like a Cuda. Very nice.

The first gen firebird is the only gen I prefer the FB over the camaro

Cool shots, I've seen plenty of early Camaro design shots, but not Firebirds

GM had Firebird 1, 2 & 3 at a local show two summers back, quite a site!

explain to me why the upper two have 1970-1972 Plymouth 'Cuda stylin cues with not only the lights,the hood scoop,and the gills(near the center)

Those are more signature Pontiac front end styles then Cuda IMO
Also, they have the Camaro single round headlamp style.

The split grills have been a hallmark in Pontiac design. Another consideration was the Endura bumper like the '68-9 GTO's, but that was nixed. That was just a GTO feature.
