Autoextremist on why the car mags are dying....

And how the Camaro leak was the straw that broke the camel's back:

As you know, the biggest concept car reveal slated for Detroit was the new Camaro, which was kept under wraps for the most part, until its Monday unveiling. An unauthorized photo showed up on the Internet days before, but the real kicker was that the car popped up on the Automobile magazine website on Sunday, the day before the official reveal. And at that very instant, a long-standing agreement between the car companies and the monthly car magazines was blown up for good.

I still read alot of car mags but I hardly lend the same sort of creedence to them that I once did. First off, they've just gotten so many things flat out WRONG in the last few years, they continue to go on and on about how unbelievably awesome the Japanese and German cars are and how American cars are still junk... seems like the same old thing every month.

The "straw that broke the camel's back" for me was when Car and Driver last year tested an 05 GTO against an 05 Mustang GT (2 totally different class of cars if you ask me) - the GTO kicked the Mustang's ass in just about every category, but the Mustang ultimately won the comparo because, in the end, they thought it "looked better"...

There's always the mysterious "gotta have" factor Car and Driver will throw in if their favored car is getting it's ass kicked in a comparo.

There's a reason they're called "rags" nowadays.
Cuz most are full of useless crap anymore.

And I agree big time with this Autoextremist article.
If they can't keep secrets anymore, then f^&k 'em!

My wife got me a subscription to Car & Driver for Christmas, and that was the first issue that arrived in my mailbox. Each issue since has gone straight from the mailbox to my 4-year-old.

He loves the pictures, of course.

I also hate car mags. They come up with ridiculous bull**** and proganda, and worst of all, people believe it. Consumer Reports especially. They say the Camaro was unreliable and troublesome then they go on to say that used mustangs are reliable?? WTF!
