Business trip to San Antonio...

It appears I'll be out in San Antonio, Texas with my boss attending a VPP safety conference Aug 24-27. Supposed to be staying at the Marriot Riverwalk or something. Tried to get the boss to rent an Avis Camaro...but no luck.

Anyway, never been to San Antonio before so if anyone has any tips or anything, I'm all ears. TIA.

There's a thousand things to do on the riverwalk and most of the things to see are within walking distance of that hotel. A few suggestions for night life if yer into that is Durty Nellie's, Howl at the Moon, and tons of riverwalk sports bars and clubs. For lunch I'll suggest at least one day, make yer way to Shiloh's, the best German food this side of the Atlantic, and an AWESOME split pea soup along with fresh brewed root beer. Ya gotta hit the tourist spots as well, the Alamo is in the center of downtown, the cathedral is just down from there. There's La Vallita artists square, a Ripley's Believe It Or Not, Wax Museum, Arneson Theater, The Majestic Theater, the Riverwalk mall, tons and tons of specialty shops featuring authentic Mexican items and food. Using the guides in the hotel room, you'll have no problem finding things to do, and if it looks too far away, cabs are fairly reasonable.

Hope that helps a bit

Thank you. Alamo looks like it's a couple of blocks away, and our own Augusta Riverwalk was supposedly inspired by SA's riverwalk. The convention's at the Gonzalez center, apparently next to the Tower of the Americas or something like that.

Oh yeah
A mainstay of San Antonio history, Hemisfair park which hosted the 1968 (I think) World's Fair, with the tower, a park, and a cultural center. Next to the tower is the federal courthouse, federal building and our training center, a part of where I work.

Garage
When I worked for Tecumseh, they had certain cars I could rent when traveling....I had them make the arrangments, then they would let me "upgrade" the difference on my own bill, seperately from the "company" reciept.

Instead of a Ford Focus or Taurus, I was sporting a mustang convertible. Sorry, the company they used only had Fords....so I had to lower my standards a bit.
