Back Problems? Eat Blue M&Ms!

Warning - you may temporarily turn blue!

Researchers at the University of Rochester Medical Center found that when they injected the compound Brilliant Blue G (BBG) into rats suffering spinal cord injuries, the rodents were able to walk again, albeit with a limp.

The only side effect was that the treated mice temporarily turned blue.

that is the cutest little blue and white mouse!

but srsly, that's interesting that compounds in food dye can have such effects in large doses. kinda scary... even if that effect seems to be good.

When pharmacists design drugs to treat patients, they make sure to stay well away from the lethal limit of the drug. The drugs used in the lethal injection executions are administered daily to patients all over the world with little or no side effects.

FWIW, if I snapped my spine and had to choose between being blue for a few hours or wheelchair bound, I'll take the blue. Besides, thats probably one of the coolest side effects I've ever heard of.
