Thinking about picking up an IROC Z.

Like the title says, a friend of mine is selling his '86 IROC.

The chassis has 125k miles, but it has a new motor with 15k miles. It needs a paintjob, and maybe other minor work, but it seems to be running good. He's asking price is $3000.

Is there anything in particular I need to watch out for on these 3rd gen cars? Does it seem like a fair price? Comments?

I love IROCs, but I would only buy a low-mileage one.

With that many miles it's gonna be a rattle-box with worn suspension.
But if that stuff is recently new or upgraded, and all the electronics work (radio, heat, air, power windows/locks etc) then it wouldn't be a bad car.

I've had two 3rd gens and while I loved how they looked I hated them lol.
But the two I had were POSs, but nice ones are awesome.

Love IROC's. I'm not a big fan of convertable cars but there's something about a vert IROC that just sexy. I think 3rd gen verts are the best looking of all Camaro models. $3000 doesn't sound to bad if everything works and the car runs well & I thought that rattles were standard equipment on all Camaro's

It seems likely that I'm going to get it. I'm talking to the owner in 10 days, and I'll keep you guys posted(with pics).

You have no room for another car in your yard... so when are you going to buy a storage unit to keep tham all in?
