Weekend Trip to Hell.

I've been away for a few days. We took a little 3 day weekend trip to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg, TN and Cherokee, NC.

I used to love to goto Gatlinburg years ago. It's only a 5-6 trip from my house. Me and my buddies would often be sitting around in the one light town I grew up at midnight and pile into a car for morning breakfast in Pigeon Forge, just because we could. We used to road trip all over the US.

Today, I am so disappointed to what has become of the area. It's just one big huge screw up, an eyesore on the map. Every year the place just gets worse and worse. Idiot drivers and poor traffic planning by the Tenn DOT.

Cherokee isn't as bad, but I wonder what will become of the place in another 5 years.

We did see Elk, turkey, a bear, and plenty of dead deer...no live ones. Visited the Hard Rock, some shops in the towns and got food poisoning at the casino buffet in Cherokee...They didn't get any gambling money from me because I was sick as a person could be for the next day.

I'm not sure who stood out more to me..the toothless attendant at the automatic car-wash who thinks I stopped there to buy drugs or the lonely guy at Cooters who works at a store with no customers.

I hate to hear that. It has been about 7 years since I was up there and it used to be the best place to visit in the fall.

I've only been to Gatlinburg once...and that was a couple years ago for my sister's wedding. We had a cabin up in the mountains...that was pretty nice.

The bed was like sleeping on a door, though.
