i HATE web sense

my work has had websense for a while now... and it never affected me until recently. i am now blocked from checking my email at work. argh! and now i'm afraid to visit all the cool sites i frequent (like this one) in fear that they may block it too. dammit!

oh and they've already blocked every proxy i've tried so i guess i'm just screwed. buncha bastards!!

Tricks to try.

1. Ping.
Ping website, find IP, place IP in URL field.
i.e. Start->Run->CMD->Ping www.facebook.com

2. HTTP vs HTTPS.
Some webfilters fail to block HTTPS websites. Assuming whatever site your trying to access has an HTTPS server of course, when entering the URL manually put the S infront of HTTP...i.e... httpS://www.woufaouf.com
(Used this method to get to facebook even on government PCs, may have to manually enter in the s for each link you try to access.)

3. Classic altavista babelfish/Google translator.
This trick shouldn't need to be explain. Basically, find a foreign version of the website your trying to access. Google it, and use the google translator tool to access it. (Google acts as the 'proxy' in this case) (Old trick, doesn't work as often as it used to)

If they have that in place, it is for a reason. Sounds like they know what they are doing. Further attempts to get around it would likely only draw more attention to yourself

@ Mikey. yeah, thanks for the ping thing, but i'm just gonna leave it alone for now. i'll just have to check my email at home and keep my fingers crossed that they don't start blocking all my car forums

Another idea: upgrade your cell phone to a smart phone with a data plan and use that. The keys are really small, but you need to keep visiting here dammit!

Still legal in 16 states. It's happy. It's fun. It's Happy Fun Car.
