Those with iPods...

My fiance got me a Nano for Christmas. I downloaded the iTunes stuff and it asked if I wanted it to import everything in My Music folder and convert it blah blah. Well, I said yes, thinking it would make my life much easier since I had so many songs.

To my dismay, it looks like I lost ALL of my songs that I had. It kept only one. I had downloaded some of these a long time ago before places like Napster and Kazaa were shut down, so is it possible iTunes looks for stuff that was downloaded from P2P and removes them?

I'm a little annoyed at the moment.

That sucks. Should have copied them to another folder or discs or something more permanent first.

OMFG! I checked my zip drive that I had all my old stuff on from when I switch hard drives (thanks bgrorud!) and all of my MP3's were on there.

So how can I get these MP3's into the iTunes library without them getting effed?

I know its a [email protected] Itunes converts all its music files to an mp4 protected format. Which can only be played on there devices. Once converted to mp4, they will not play on an mp3 player or any other player. That is why I keep two directories for my music. One for MP3 and one for Itunes. And I back them up for later retrieval. Because a Hard drive is like a light bulb. Its gonna burn out. Just a matter of when...

This is all very interesting information. I will certainly keep my MP3's on my zip, that's for sure.

Just so I am clear, there is no way to take my MP3 files from my zip and copy them into iTunes, correct?
