i'll race ya...

so there's this guy at my work who recently bought a Challenger... V6... auto... lol. it's no Camaro, but hey, at least he bought American. he's seen the Bee before and when i told him it was an SS he knew better than to race me.

so, i got this idea in my head last night. that V6 Chally is rated at 250 HP/250 TQ... my LaCrosse is rated at 255 HP/217 TQ. i got a 2.77 gear ratio (which is crappy for racing, but oh well). dunno what the V6 Chally has. according to Dodge.com, his curb weight is 3719 and mine is 3929 according to Buick.

i would hope he would beat me, but i think it would be a fun race.

so this morning, i come in to work and tell him i have a good race for him. i didn't want to step on his ego too much cuz i really wanna race him (if i beat him in my Buick... that would be hilarious!). so i tried to say as nicely as possible that i wanna race him in my Buick since that would be a more fair race than the Camaro. he got a little insulted and said his Chally is "more of a cruiser" whatever. so i said, "well, you'll prolly beat me, but i just like to race. so lemme know if you're up to it" and that seemed to soften him up a bit to the idea.

so ladies and gents... i'm gonna work on this guy for a bit and see if i can score a race. i would hope he would beat me, but you never know. might get a Chally kill in the Buick. that would be too funny.

I think that is the general concensus of these new muscle car owners, especially V6 owners. They are all talk. While I understand this site makes street racing the "unmentionable," the fact is many people have no problem putting their money where their mouth is. I find it to be quite hypocritical of many owners modifying their vehicles, or even running their mouths about their "306... er... 312hp" V6 yet they'll never back it up with a run against someone who is ready to throw down.

Sorry for my rant, but I know you can appreciate it, Selena.

Best of luck in showing that barge what a Buick hiney looks like.

Sounds like fun Selena, when I was going to HS there was a 1 1/2 mile road with a median that was the main drag to a housing development that never took off. It was perfect, they never built any houses and the road only connected to the highway and went no where else. We used to have all kinds of fun out there and did not worry about other cars. Hope you find a good spot when you go and run this guy over.

I had no idea the Buick was that heavy! All that added comfort must weigh more.

Good luck getting a race. Sounds like that fellow might hold a grudge if he loses, though.

Still legal in 16 states. It's happy. It's fun. It's Happy Fun Car.

^ you should see all the sound deadener in this car. it's crazy. when they say that Buick QuietTuning is "coffin quiet", they mean it

i will definitely try to get video (might have to be super sneaky about it). this would definitely be youtube worthy if my LaCrosse beat up on a Chally. if he holds a grudge, that would make the victory even sweeter

i just hope i can score the race. wish me luck.

That poor guy, it's bad enough that you have a V8 muscle car to his V6, then you twist the knife and offer to race your 4 door old peoples Buick.

That guy will never be the same.

A good launch on some sticky tires and you may just kick his ass!

Your Lacrosse is 15.8 for the 1/4. His lead sled is 16.0.

At least that's the number I saw when I looked it up.

Kick his ASS, Selena!

yeah... i guess it's gotta hurt when a girl says she'll leave her big bad V8 at home and race you with her grandma car. but maybe he'll take the bait.

and i just have the 3.0 with 255 HP. if i had the 3.6 this would be in the bag. the 3.6 runs mid to high 15's. the 3.0 is rated at anywhere from 16.2 to 16.4 in the 1/4. so it will be a good race. if i can get him on the holeshot, i just might win. it'll be interesting to see.
