hey Octane!

i have a question for ya, Tim. which circ software do ya'll use at your library?

we are currently using Horizon (7.3.4), but they are about to switch us to Symphony WorkFlows (3.3.1J). so far we have just attended a few training classes and i'm not really liking what i see. it seems like Symphony requires so many more steps for the same tasks that take one step in Horizon. i'm hoping maybe once i start using it, it will get better. i just wanted to see if you had any input on it. thanks!!

and if there are any other library people, feel free to chime in

Our library system uses Innovative.
It's been pretty good overall!
I like the features they offer, and they seem to always have something new coming out.
Plus the software is pretty easy to use.

Innovative likes to use our library system to test out new things.
The reason is - we're the largest library system in the USA, so if anyone can break it, we can!

Nope, Innovative is it's own stand alone, but there are smaller library systems in the area that use SirsiDynix.

Check with Chris Frezza from CamaroZ28.com - he's the head geek at his library system and I believe his library system uses SirsiDynix.

"library geeks" is what we are!

ok, i'll have to hit up the Frezz for some info. thanks, Tim. both Horizon and Symphony are SirsiDynix products which makes no sense that they are so different, but what they hell do i know.

and yes, we are talking about the software used in libraries for checking in/out books, cataloging, maintaining the collection, acqusitions, etc.

it's a good thing i'm not the only library geek on here

If they are not, then Lorcin and the soon to be Mrs. Octane might be in trouble!
