Ford's New 5.0

A tech article detailing just what went into the new 5.0. The neatest thing I read is that they were able to eliminate the need for an EGR or AIR system through the use of the TiVCT.

http://www.mustang50magazine.com/tec...ine/index.html

Its 15 pages, but a worthwhile read.

The Mustang is currently the better buy. Less weight, same power, equal and/or better performance, lower price.

I love the new Camaro, but its hard to say no to the Mustang just because its a Ford.

If I had money at this point in my life, I'd be getting the Mustang. I might still get it even if the Camaro does become the better buy in the future because the 5.0 engine has been designed to accept EcoBoost. All Ford would have to do to make the engine solid for EcoBoost is change to forged pistons/rods and add a few machining steps to the heads for the DI ports.

I'd much rather have a DI TT 5.0L than a 6.2L SC pushrod engine.

I already have a Camaro. Albeit, its a thridgen, but it'll be a *****in thirdgen after I get out of college here in the next 7 months. Hence, its hard for me to justify another Camaro especially when the Mustang undercuts it in price and performance.

Cool read.

It eliminates EGR and AIR...
...so just like GM did 5 years ago then.

I won't argue Mustang's power, it's there.
But their chassis and handling do not compare.
Yes, I've driven a Camaro SS and a Mustang GT back-to-back. Coupe and Convertible too.
Just doesn't compare.

Try something:
Take a 2010-11 Mustang convertible.
Put the car on a 4-post lift.
Open the doors.
Raise the car.
.........................and guess what?
You won't be able to close the doors because the chassis flexes so much.
