More than 50 classic vehicles from the forthcoming film Captain America: The First Avenger are destined for auction in March, complete with 'extremely low reserves'.

A blockbusting collection of classic American cars will be making the jump from the big screen to collectors' garages as vehicles from the forthcoming Captain America film are lined up to go to auction.

More than 50 cars from Marvel Studios' Captain America: The First Avenger will join the Historics at Brooklands sale on March 3, including a 1941 Cadillac Series 61 featuring art deco styling and a 1933 Dodge Tow Truck, sourced from the Nevada Desert and complete with bullet holes on the front wing and bonnet.

The Captain America vehicles were acquired by the film's executive producer Nigel Gostelow. "I, along with our director, Joe Johnston, are both avid 'petrolheads', and so historical accuracy was vitally important to us," said Gostelow. "When it comes to movie production, the settings need to look and feel real, and these cars played a large part in that process. Ultimately they looked great on set, and pleasingly, were correct and very well prepared."

All of the cars and trucks in the auction were built between 1931-48 and, says Historics at Brooklands auction director Edward Bridger-Stille, there will be "extremely low reserves set across the board".

Those who can't make it to the auction in person can bid online using i-bidder via the Historics at Brooklands website, where there is also more information about the vehicles being sold.

Captain America: The First Avenger will be released in cinemas nationwide in July. In the meantime you can see 12 of the cars set to go to auction, along with their estimated values, in our gallery of Classic American movie car investments.
