Beer and 54's Pursuit of Nirvana aka THE BEER THREAD.

I have been thinking about this thread for a LONG time, so here goes.

I really like Beer. I LOVE good beer. I like Whiskey and Rum too...

I started brewing my own Beer in 1996ish. I started kegging my own beer in 2000.

With Life and kids, I do more buying than building beer, but hopefully that will change this year.

I would like to harvest a discussion of YOUR local beers that you like and maybe others across the country can sample those fine offerings.

Spoetzel Brewing Company "Shiner Bock" and St. Arnold's Brewing Company are two of the Locals in the Houston area, but there are tons in Texas, but not as many as you would think.

Texas ranks like 25th on the per capita list of Craft Brewers. We still have about 19 slated to open this year, which should help push us closer to the top.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you want to post your favorite beer, please do the following:
1. Post a picture of the bottle/can.
2. Post a picture of it poured into a glass.
3. Give us an impression of the beer:
Appearance, Aroma, First Sip(initial impression/sensation), Mouthfeel(How does the beer feel in your mouth), Finish(what do you taste after you swallow the beer)
4. Please give us the full name of the Beer and it's birth(where it was brewed)
I will post some examples tomorrow.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Besides Beer stories and any general Cool stuff about beer, don't post pictures or comments about anything else please.

BTW, I collect Lone Star Beer Collectibles (Pre-1990)

Post away......

what brand is the beer you make similar too? havent ventured to try too many beers. but i am a fan of labatt blue, bud light, and corona. mostly drink from the bottle. speaking of beers, i got to enjoy a few in my new hot tub last night. went down verrrryyyy smoothly. the 5 degree weather kept them cold while i finished the one in hand.

well, i guess what im saying is, what style(brand) of beer, does yours taste like? but it sounds like you make a few different kinds. all dark lagers?

I typically don't make brands of beers, I make styles.

And to answer your questions, whatever everyone wants. I just don't really like Pale Ales.

More to come.

54, just thought I'd mention, I was in Walgreen's yesterday and saw that "Pizz on a Flat Rock" beer or whatever for $3.49 a six pack. I chuckled and thought of your other post on that. Great price if it tastes worth a crap.

I love FAT TIRE!

Tastes amazing! A bit hard to explain. It's a smidge bitter and a little wheatie tasting.

And I live about 1hr away from the abita brewery,,, hahaha this place is it.. abita has a brewery tour and a pub to eat at.

and growing up here (New Orleans) how could I not like Dixie beer that was brewed on tulane ave

Never really got into Fat Tire, but have been drinking it for years. Not my favorite.

Anything Dixie or Abita. I had mentioned Abita's Pecan Ale. Good Stuff! And of course Turbo Dog and Voodoo!!!!
