Retired come June

So I got back my MEB back. Air Force deemed 60% disability rate. Will be medically retired late June. A lot to prepare for. I grew up military... And a bit timid to be a "civilian."

I was the original GI Bill back when I got out and was in Illinois. Illinois had a Veterans Grant that paid all my tuition so I just used the GI Bill for books and pocketed the rest. Now that I am in Texas I switched to the 9/11 since it covers up tuition and Texas does not have a Veterans Grant. So I guess is if your state does not have a Veterans Grant the 9/11 would be the better choice. The book stipend is a little low in my opinion but having all of the tuition paid for is a good trade off I feel.

Not sure why you can't accept a rating without talking to a lawyer. There are lobbyist groups out there though like AMVETS, a day after I got my rating from the VA I got a letter from them.

I've talked to several folks that checked with lawyers to make sure they were getting everything they deserve, kind of like a 2nd opinion...

Make sure to ask if you will also get the VA waiver as well as your MEB retirement. Will you be placed on TDRL or PDRL. If you want more info PM me. ras
