Who's Your Pick...Run For The Roses

Not sure how many other thoroughbred afficionados are here but let's see who they are.

Although I think Dialed In and Uncle Mo are the class of the field I don't pick favorites so I'll take Soldat and Mucho Mach Man.

Longshot is Master Of Hounds.

For my karma pick I'll take Midnight Interlude. Received a belated Xmas present this week. WWII book by Christopher Chant. Midnight Interlude's sire is War Chant.

My $2-for-six-digit tri and super tickets will have Brilliant Speed, Comma To The Top, Stay Thirsty and Twice The Appeal.

The Kentucky Derby also known as "The Run for the Roses" is Satirday afternoon. This is the first of three Triple Crown races each year. And I would really love to see another Triple Crown winner before I die...not that I'm planning that anytime soon.

I was fortunate enough to witness Secretariat make his famous Run for the Roses as a child at Churchill Downs. Still one of the high points of my life and an incredible thrill.

Is it bad that I live in KY..less than an hour from the track..and I stopped caring about the Derby years ago?

I would've never guessed you were even alive then. I figured you were in your 20's instead of closer to 40. I guess I need to rethink my plan of being a amusement park age guesser when I retire again.

I am a huge thoroughbred fan and my all-time favorite horse was Ruffian. She was truly an inspiration to me in my youth. For anyone interested...here's a great video about her career. It was a huge event back in the 70's...and really unforgettable!
