Hypothetical ? Value of '69 GTO

Hypothetical question:

Cherry '69 GTO. 100% stock, EXCEPT the engine has been internally modded and a blower was installed under the hood.
Does this add or detract from the value?

It's only worth what you're willing to pay for it. I know that doesn't help...

I wouldn't call "a blower installed" 100% stock.

I have seen them go from $28K to ~ $75K on the auctions, depending on how nice it is and if it is a convertible or not. You got a pic of it you would like to share?

Since the blower can probably be removed and returned to a more OEM setup, I'd say the value isn't impacted by much.

It is if its removed

You bring up something tho Lu, on this 69' is the numbers matching (?),
if they are it could be worth a lot, if not, it should still bring in 20K +
I know of a few collectors that would take it in a heart beat,
just because it has a roots blower, I bet the motor is a Chevy motor,
that will bring down the price tho just because its no longer stock
Unless its a Jim Butlers (JBP) Motor, now those go for big bucks and
he always uses Pontiac blocks, heads.... every thing is Pontiac
even the root blower intake manifold !

^^^ I agree.

It sounds like someone has messed with the motor quite a bit, but if its a numbers matching block and heads, it will still be worth a lot because it can be reverted back. If someone really messed with the motor though (bored it, changed heads, etc) or replaced it with something other than JBP parts it probably hurt the value a lot. And verts are worth more, as are manual transmissions typically.

If it's a standard, non Ram Air GTO, in A+++ condition, meaning it doesn't need anything on the body, paint and interior and has no mechanical issues, you're probably looking at a $15k-18k car. It could bring $20k for the right buyer.

The GTO's that bring big money are all Ram Air III, IV or Judges. Standard GTOs just don't bring a lot of money in todays market. I've been watching them for a while now because I want a '69 GTO.
