Red face Got an iPhone

Well I traded my original Motorola Droid off for an iPhone 4 yesterday. I've been an Android advocate since v2.0...But I have to tell you, the iPhone just works better. The coup de gras was two months ago when I bought my wife an iPad. I just liked it...So when it came time to switch, I decided to go with an iPhone.

Aargh! I have been mulling over this for a couple of months now and just decided that the Droid's Charge hotspot capability was the edge over iPhone. We spend a lot of time at our cabin and sometimes have our laptop with us and the Droid would make internet access possible.

WHAT TO DO, WHAT TO DO?!

Either can be a hotspot...On Verizon the iPhone does the hotspot thing. However, you can do an hotspot unofficially on either one by rooting or jailbreaking.

rooting or jailbreaking......

are there instructions on how to do those things in the phone's manual? LOL

I am excited to hear the iPhone has the same hotspot capability, I think the scales are tipping!

Thanks Devryn!!!

Rooting (Android) and Jailbreaking (iPhone), are hacks and/or custom operating files that unlock the phone from all of the restrictions it manufacturer and/or carrier have placed on them. i.e. If you wireless tether officially the carrier charges you a separate fee above and beyond your regular data plan (which is BS). If you jailbreak or root and install a tethering app, you can tether without the carrier knowing you're doing it.

There aren't instructions in the manual (especially since it may void your warranty), however, the instructions are readily available online, as are the programs for doing it. Most of them, you run a program on your computer, do a couple of specific keypresses on the phone, and voila, rooted/jailbroken.

Just pay the 20 bucks it's better than limiting what your phone can do. When you root a phone you can't load the new OS as they are released.

Congrates on the iphone it's better. I have a Zoom and an ipad2 and like the Zoom much better. I wish the ipad ran flash.

You do know there will be an iPhone 5 and it will most likely be both LTE and AT&T 4g for both Verizon and AT&T. I am actually looking forward tot he Galaxy Tab 10.1 for Verizon as it will have an LTE connection so I can just ditch the phone and use Google Voice, and use the dual cameras for Skype and such all only using my current data plan.

Another iPhone is a no brainer. The when is another discussion.
No specs have been released on the iPhone 5.
It will not be released this month.
It MAY be released in late September.
