Tales of Rental Car hell

I took my G8 to the body shop to get fixed for hail damage. I have been waiting for almost 2 months. I was pushed back 1 month already since it was taking them longer than expected to fix cars after a tornado/hail storm damaged most homes and cars in town.

Picked up my Enterprise Rental car at the body shop. The check engine light came on !!! Hope it is just a fuel cap thing. It is a Impala with less than 5K miles on it. Nothing in the DIC or other indicators to tell what the light is on for. Enterprise had another beat up Impala with a rusty New York Plate on it. I told them no way.

I asked for an upgrade for my trouble. They offered a Honda Accord. UUUUUGH! Really? An Accord as an upgrade? GRRRRR... I told them, no thanks.

If the light does not go off in a few short drives I will just tell them to stuff it. No use them getting ANY money from me.

Its just a check engine light and its a rental. Just drive it and don't worry about it. Its not like its gonna blow up or something. Enterprise is the worst for maintaining their vehicles. When I worked at a local chevy/caddy dealer we had an enterprise in our building. They only brought cars in for service if something major was broken like the ac or trans. They never did maintenance like oil changes and stuff and they kept the car rented out if ses lights were on, or minor things were wrong. They are out to make money. Bottom line.

x2

Don't sweat it. If it dies, they come pick it up and give you another car. If it's a Honda Accord, who cares. If you care, go rent a car someplace else

I used Enterprise and have never had an issue.

Only rental I ever had was when I took my G5 in for a faulty airbag harness that caused the SERVICE ENGINE SOON message and the airbag light to come on.
Then it was a base Cobalt sedan. The steering wheel was sticky and the interior was filthy. And I also learned why I didn't get the base audio system...it sounded horrific~

I forgot which company gave me the rental though, they were attached to the Cadillac dealer next door.

Enterprise IMO is very hit and miss on service, they hire tons of recent college grads so the chances of dealing with a well educated but inexperienced employee is very high. As far as "insurance replacement" rental cars go there are no other big players here in Texas so who you gonna call?
