A friend of mine had his car stolen a few months back, I forgot the type of car,
I think it was a Saturn, not to sure, but he found out it was found two states over &
stripped down a total lost, he bought it out right & only had collision on it
He states he'll never own a newer car & he's sticking to old ones, from now on & plying it safe

I remember when I bought my new Camry back in 2000. On the list then was the 1986 Toyota Camry for being the most stolen.

I don't know why people would want to steal those ugly things unless it was for the chop shop or something..

I would say chop-shop and/or to sell over seas.

I would bet that list roughly aligns with the list of most registered vehicles in America. If it was a percentage of vehicles stolen based on the number of vehicles registered, the list would be very different.

After I posted I did a little reading... The Honda Accord was the #1 Best Selling vehicle in America from 1980 to 1997, when the top spot was taken over by the Toyota Camry. From 1997 to 2008 (when the article I was reading was published) the Camry was the #1 Best Selling vehicle ten of the 11 years, falling to #2 (behind the Ford F150) in 2008. Lastly, the Honda Civic has been a Top Ten Best Seller since it's introduction in 1973.

These vehicles are not the most stolen because of desirability, but rather, because of availability.
