Oil question

So I bought all Royal Purple fluid today, 5w30 and took it to a local shop to have it done. I checked the level when I got home (because if someone else does it, I always do), and the oil on the stick didn't look fresh to me...It's not super black, but it's not purple either. I drove it all of three miles home. Am I just paranoid?

By chance do you have more to compare with? But the only way to be sure is drain the oil and check. Not sure what Royal Purple oil looks like out of the bottle. I know that Mobil1 Synthetic 5w-30 oil is lite brown in color. Let us know what you find.

The RP out of the bottle is on top. The smaller dot below is what I shook onto the paper with the dipstick.

ahh. I see that now. Yes, does not look the same. Run for 20 miles and recheck. If still the same, I would follow up with the shop. But in the past when I have changed oil. The oil color changes right a way. Best of luck.

Residual oil mix is my guess. Not a good drain in the first place. But that's JMO.

I usually do, but I'm busy all weekend and it's f'n hot out there. August is the worst month of the year here for temps here. I wish I'd just sucked it up and spent my evening doing it now...
