Back! and with a story!

Hey everybody! I know it's been awhile since I've been on, but here I am, stationed in San Antonio TX now and finally settled in. I've missed being on, but life's been moving fast and it's been hard to find time to decompress. This thread's going to be one of those that does it all! I have a road trip full of pictures through some of the prettiest areas in the continental U.S., my newest build and first efforts at painting a vehicle, not to mention saying hi to everyone again! SO, without further adieu, let's get to some of the fun stuff. For all you lazy readers, that was the short short version of this thread!

I haven't edited many of these original pictures, but bear with me and I'll get them up as I work!

Right, so here's the build guys, i'm not much on narration, I sanded down the original blue, took everything apart, then, did the respray. Dad and I did it by ourselves, lots of fun, and it turned out great in the end. Not so much a build i suppose as a restoration, i did mostly bodywork, haven't learned the art of welding, but i had to pick a new left fender, and it turned out that both the original and new fender were rusted through in the centers. Dad welded plates underneath and filled with bondo while i sanded for the most part, not particularly exciting work on my part, but necessary nonetheless. We ran into some trouble with the decals on the sides, and they had to be taken down to metal all the way round. The color was picked from the new jeep, but we think the primer we used was darker than factory and hence the almost bronze finish. It still turned out well, hope you enjoy the pics! I'm stationed in San Antonio if anyone needs help/advice painting!

So in my typical luck with cars...not two days after I finished painting, My roomate's mother managed to back into me, and did a little damage. I picked a new tailgate, prepped it, and dad sprayed. Sorry about the random cherokee pic, snuck in there.

After the first wax in texas!
