Couple's copper theft for wedding netted $18

Police say a western Pennsylvania couple desperate for money to pay for their wedding netted just $18 for the stolen copper wire they cut from more than a dozen utility poles.


North Sewickley police say 23-year-old Joseph Russell and 24-year-old April Cater cut down the wires on August 9, four days before their wedding.

Should have picked up old aluminum cans from the road. More money,easier and no jail time.

Exactly I see the homeless people in NYC and Philadelphia do this all of the time especially after a parade. I am sure they make more collecting cans than having a homeowner or a company have to pay more money in repairs just all because someone was short on funds for their wedding. I guess they are better off hearing jail bars closed than wedding bells.
