We still don't know the mass of the planet. We only know the size. They will be able to use other telescopes in 2012 to measure the mass. That will tell us more about the makeup of this planet.

I don't don't there will be more found by then and I am sure we will find an Earth twin before long. SETI will be looking for signals coming from planets in the habital range, but if there are signals from other life the would have to have been made about 600 years ago. We have not been sending signals for nearly that long.

Okay, so now we know where to go when we use up our current "Earth". After all this is the second, Earth.

This has all happened before, it will all happen again.

Bonus points for those who get the reference.

Well considering it's 600 Light Years away nothing will happen for at least 599.99 Light Years....

Currently the only thing that can get there in 600 years is a beam of light. IF we figure out how to go faster than light we could get there faster. Think of it as having a long runner rug and staying in the same spot and pulling the rug to you instead of running down the rug. This is the only way I understand that we can get there faster, but we would be pulling the fabric of space instead. Someone still has to invent this though. Only the physics are there and thats it.

IMO travel to far off places will happen, but only when we can figure out how to stop or slow aging and I would think your body would be in some state where you don't really move around the ship, but your in a virtural reality with others while on the trip so you don't feel trapped in the ship.
