Christmas Traditions

What are some Christmas traditions you do with your family (kids) running up to the big day. If you feel like sharing. I'll go first.

This started with my son when he was 3yrs old. I have a muscial Christmas song greeting card that has the 25 days of Dec. Each day he has to find the correct date (there not in order) and remove the onimante and press the button and the song plays. He also gets an advent calendar each year which he get to open (has to find it) each day leading up to the 25th of Dec again (not in order). We do this each morning after we turn on the Christmas lights in the house.

For those who have not heard of the advent calendar they are a calendar that has 25 doors on it of which the child gets to open up one each day starting 1 Dec and goes to 25 Dec. Behind each door is a small piece of chocolate behind each door in the shape of something Christmas like. These originated in Germany have been a great hit. If your lucky you can find them right after thanksgiving. I live near an Air Force Base (ret AF) and they always sell out fast.

So to you ALL, I wish you a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I hope this does not offend anyone. It is not my intentions.

Wife and I started a new Christmas tradition last year - hosting Christmas Eve!
35+ people in the house - turns out we LOVE hosting big parties!

Last year we had a blast, and we've since moved into a bigger house, so this year should be even better!

It's always such a blessing to celebrate the season with close family.

Vickie and me have been little by little, year by year looking for more ways to make it like our parents did; 'becoming' them even. I'm 42, lost my dad at 25 and we both lost our moms these past few years and OUR kids have grown up, had their own and moved out so it's like....ok, parents AND kids both/all gone within just a few years of each other, it's been really interesting. We have the border collie though. Ok, I'm rambling but, hey, I've been a member for like 4 years and post less than 500 times I'm allowed. (how's this for a one word post SIRLOIN-creep). We look for recipes that our mom's had and try them out. We try to mimic the decorative scenes that our mom's had even with different items. We stay completely sober too lol, that really throws everyone else off roflmao. I remember, years and years ago, sitting and staring at the tree after putting up the outside lights for her, drinking the chocolate she brought me and getting 'the feeling' (you know, the one of love and warmth that we should have all the time?). Well, it comes for different triggers now. Like simply watching the look on the 2 yr old grandbabies eye when she comes to see the house the first time since newly decorated, or while teaching her to sing and dance to Alvin chipmunk songs Wholly Kow.

I had two friends get married tonight. Weddning was at a country club decorated pretty much for Christmas but set up for the wedding too, of course. It was kool. As we left, Vickie punched some directions to me and we found this house decorated that has been on facebook she'd wanted to see. Really kool. Mainly blue (colts theme) on a good portion of it but an awesome cross and traditional colors on the ground. She took some pics, I may get them on here. There's another thread Envy started looking for Christmas pics with our cars in them. We wound up near an old folks (I'm one, well, nearly, so no snickers at my term plz) where they have a nice tree about 60 ft high with VictORia under it, I may get the pics on that thread too. Her phone don't take too good at night, but we tried.

We go to my moms for Christmas Eve and then our kids and my mom come to our house and spend the night so we all wake up together on Christmas morning to see what Santa has left everyone. We have a 3 year old grandson and he is getting a 12 volt Camaro this year. Cant wait to see his little face light up....Merry Christmas Modern Camaro family!!
