What was the best deal on a car you EVER got?

Just wanted to know what the best deal on a car you ever got. I think one of my many good deals was
88 626 Paid $75 for it.
Beat the crap out of it for a year put over 50k on it. Drove it everyday & did not stick any money into it. First manual car I drove. Learned stick on it & taught 2 other people to drive stick on it. When engine seized ( had over 222k miles on it ) sold it to junkyard for $200.
Loved the car so much bought another one same day mine blew - 91 626 then I went to junkyard & took EVERY good part off it for the new one I could.
What was your best deal?

The 1980 Vette I just bought. $6K.

Other than that, probably my 03 Corolla. $14K brand new, I beat the **** out of it every day, it's got 90K on it and never had a single hiccup.

I know you said car, but my best story was a 1985 Kawasaki Ninja 600R. Bought it in 1991 for $2100. Sold it in 2003 for $1900. It cost me $200 to drive it for 12 years!

2010 Stock IBM 2SS/RS

I found $80 in my jeans pocket. The kid in me said "buy nerf guns and candy!" But then the adult in me said "buy vodka, nerf guns and candy!"

Getting the SI at MSRP a month after they were released and without having to order it. To you guys, that may not sound like a deal but to Honda people, it is. The mark up a month after they came out was at an average of $1,000 and the salesmen were total tools for the most part.

Still a wannabe.

one of my favorite "best deals" was my 1992 Roadmaster sedan Limited. it was a one-owner car from FL (old guy traded it in on a Cadillac and i have all the paperwork). got it on ebay for $2900.

it had 102K on the clock when i bought it in May 2005 and i have driven it every day since (now at 137K), and i've only had to do regular maintenance. it's loaded with auto climate control, leather seats, 8 way power front seats, 3 power lumbars in each front seat, remote keyless entry, power antenna, and a few other bells and whistles. i didn't even know they had all this fancy stuff in 1992 (but i wasn't even old enough to drive in 1992 )

i totally LOVE my RM. it rides like a dream (like a couch on wheels), i get 28/29 MPG HWY with the TBI 5.7 V8, i can light the tires from a dead stop, and i can tow 5,000 lbs on a regular hitch. these cars (roadmasters, caprices, custom cruisers, impalas) are gems and it's a shame most people don't even realize it. i know i had no idea until i rode in our buddies 91 caprice a few years ago.

Man..Roadmaster..the last of the great boat-cars. Even a old Roadmaster can beat a new Crown Vic/Grand Marquis/Towncar. Each time I see one of those I want one more and more.

Does it have a tach?
