Looking for a LS1

I'm currently looking into getting a LS1. My Grand Prix can't handle what i've done to it and things keep breaking. I gotta open up the motor this weekend, might of dropped a valve or piston ring fried. But like I want to get a LS1 as my street/strip car and my Prix as my DD with a bad attitude. Now what should I look at when purchasing an LS1?? Like I hear if the car is slightly modded people kinda get those frame connecters so the t-top doesn't leak. like i founnd an awesome Z28 with a nice amount of mods.

thanx.

Definitely get subframe connectors, best suspension mod for these cars.

One think you'll see on the rear ends is a leaky pinion seal.
I've yet to ever see one that doesn't leak, so don't worry about that lol.

As far as mods go, you have to use your own judgement of what you want in a car.
If a car has simple bolt-on mods (CAI, headers, suspension, torque conveter, etc) then it'll be just fine for daily driving. Even a car with a mild cam is usually fine too.
But if you find something with heads & cam with nitrous hooked up... who knows how bad something like that has been beat on.

I'd look for an unmodded car with less than 100K miles and all service records.

That sounds alot like wishing in one hand and ****ting in the other to see which one fills up first.

Talking

They're out there.

My car has not quite 60K miles, only minor mods (see sig) and all the records.

BTW, it's not for sale.

Not yet anyway.

I've seen several low 11 high 10 second NA fbodies that pull regular street duty. Mine was a little on the radical side with true duals flowmaster 1 chambers (very loud), 3600 stall, 4.11 gears, locker, and MS3 cam but I still drove it to work on the weekends (50 miles one way). Never got to actually run it but I'm quite positive that it was in the mid- bottom 11's as it was. I was about to put the 150 shot on before my valve decided it didn't want to live in one piece anymore (long story). SFC's are more important than just traction.

Fbodies will dimple up on the rear quarters with stock power if driven hard alot so get those asap. They also don't like front turn signal bulbs. Some have the piston slap on start up as well. Other than the aforementioned pinion seal I can't really think of any problems I've had.

thanx... im looking a lot at ls1tech.com and i found plenty of potential ls1's for my price range of 8-13kish with around 50-75k miles and 6speed. just slim my chances down when i want it slightly modded and not black. black being the main eliminator. but here's one beast i just love.

Worries me that it's not the stock tranny.

2010 Stock IBM 2SS/RS

I found $80 in my jeans pocket. The kid in me said "buy nerf guns and candy!" But then the adult in me said "buy vodka, nerf guns and candy!"
