OMG - I'm using Firefox

Yes, curiosity has gotten the best of me again.

Downloaded and installed FF2.0 this morning, gonna try it out for a while.

So far it's pretty neat.
If I end up switching, it'll be because of the customization options.
Security was never an issue with IE.

Ok, I'm gonna go hide now.

I've been using Firefox for over a year now. I don't care what they do with IE -- I'm not going back unless I encounter issues with FF. Do yourself a favor and install the Adblock plus add on. You won't regret it.

And go for "NoScript".
It blocks any and all javascript on a page, unless you tell NoScript to trust the page.

It's a bite to get started, b/c pretty much every page doesn't work right. But after a week or so of browsing and accepting script - it pays off. No more adds, no more accidental viruses just waiting for the next sucker to open up a page. Love it!

Thanks guys, I'll keep those in mind.
I have to go exploring in plug-in land, because I know I'll want some things.

I find the general use of it to be very very similar to IE7.

I actually like how the favorites (aka bookmarks) are setup in IE7 better, but maybe just cuz I am still used to it.
The bookmarks in FF2 remind me of IE6, just being a standard menu.

I like the "download statusbar" (puts your current downloads as a bar at the bottom) and the "forecastfox". a weather station in the bottom bar.

I found $80 in my jeans pocket. The kid in me said "buy nerf guns and candy!" But then the adult in me said "buy vodka, nerf guns and candy!"

Heres a few extensions to try:

Fasterfox: speeds up page load times

TabMixPlus: makes using tabs so much easier

Flashblock: blocks flash animations on pages, works just like NoScript

AdBlockPlus: blocks ads

Downthemall: download accelerator, if you have broadband this is a Godsend extension. Takes a little learning and getting used too though.

Hope this helps.

Tim,

What cave have you been living in?

Don't forget that Firefox has had all these nifty features a few versions ago and IE is just catching up.

I still think its a lame movie. From allmovie.com :

Plot Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Producer/director/star Clint Eastwood takes his sweet time getting Firefox started. Eastwood plays Mitchell Gant, a past-his-prime U.S. pilot, smuggled into the Soviet Union to steal a new Russian supersonic fighting plane. Fortunately the KGB men are as burnt out as Gant, enabling him to abscond with the plane with the greatest of ease. The rest of the film is a protracted chase, pitting Gant against scores of impersonal MIG pilots. Based on a novel by Craig Thomas.

I've been satisfied with IE7 until now, never had any problems with it or security issues, so I saw no reason to switch... especially since the last time I tried Firefox I didn't like it (bad interface, slow browsing).

But it has improved alot since then, I think the last time I tried Firefox was on 1.5, I didn't like that one at all.

It is amazing how much similarity there is between FF2 and IE7.
Overall use is nearly the same, interfaces are similar, and the print preview screens are within about 5 pixels of being exactly the same lol.

IE7 does have some add-ins, a fact which is overlooked by many.
But not near as many as Firefox does.

I will say this though, customizing the built-in search bar (adding custom search providers) is much easier in IE7.
