VJ DAY in Honolulu

What a great video that captures an historical moment.

We owe so much to the sacrifices and bravery of our WWII generation.

Something to think about while celebrating this Memorial Day Holiday!

Have a Great Weekend!

SOPMOD...OUT!

JUST THINK HOW THIS YOUNG LADY FELT WHEN SHE DISCOVERED THE VIDEO HER FATHER SHOT.

Great video of a Spontaneous Victory Parade in Honolulu in 1945.

Take a look at this video -absolutely fabulous!

Notice the cars, jeeps, and youth. The guys in khaki or gray shirts and black ties are Navy officers or chiefs. The rest are Army or Marine.

How young they all were, to do what they did.

This guy really captured a moment in history! (You can listen to Jimmy Durante singing "I'll be Seeing You" in the background, too.)

This is a super video of a time past - we need to remember and be THANKFUL.

Check out the color fidelity. Not bad for 1945. Nothing'll ever compare with Kodachrome film.

Hey SOPMOD, check this. You may have got it from one of the Vet email's I get......

As the flowers rest on the decorated graves and the sunlight shines on the beautiful sailboats,

Uncle Sam whispers in my ear about how we should care for the soldiers and remember the ones that have died.

Swimming pools open, BBQs fry. Today is the day to think of what they have done for us.

There are blurs of red, white and blue marching down the street and flags are lowered at half-mast. But we should always remember and never forget what set us free, from this very day on.

This was written by a third grader..... God Bless America!!
Enjoy Your holiday, if you get a chance. In Honolulu ask a cab to take You to "The Punch Bowel Cemetery". It will take your breath away.....

cpoboats, Thanks for sharing!

To many forget the sacrifices made by others so we can spend time with our families!
