Alpha platform

What do you all think about this recent article in MT?
It doesn't make sense to me

http://www.motortrend.com/features/a...form_chevrolet

Motor Trend has learned that GM's small rear-drive Alpha program will serve Chevrolet, not Pontiac. Alpha is designed mainly to underpin a sub-CTS-size Cadillac, crucial to the brand's European offensive, but GM needs to build a volume car off the platform to make it pay off, and the car will be a Chevy sedan.

This raises the age-old problem for GM: How do you ensure Alpha is a proper Cadillac and not a modern-day Cimarron? GM feels confident it can pull this off, thanks to the differentiation among Lambda models, notably the Buick Enclave, Saturn Outlook, and GMC Acadia.

GM also is considering moving the 2013 Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky from Kappa to Alpha, which will include some Kappa bits, anyway. While GM found it could not stretch the Kappa platform adequately to underpin a compact, rear-drive sedan, it can shorten the Alpha platform to serve a two-seat sports car.

Yeah, MT got that one wrong.
Alpha will serve many divisions, just like Zeta will serve many divisions.

So, what cars do you expect to see on Alpha?

Do you expect it to replace something in Chevy?
I would find it hard to replace Malibu with it now.

I could see replacing G6.
and of course in other brands such as buick and Cadilac

Yeah, I could see this developing a G6 replacement, a Cadillac, a Buick, a Chevy, and perhaps more.

I'd be all about a small RWD coupe with a nice DI V6 or DI 6L V8 .

A G6 like that would make me **** right giddy. Or a Chevy..or anything..really.

An Alpha LSX would make me very happy and an Alpha Cadillac LSX even better

If they price it right (low 20's..maybe even below the 20's mark somehow)...I would be all smiles.
