R.I.P. CompUSA: 1984-2008

CompUSA closed 126 stores this year as a re-orginaization effort, but now new owner Gordon Brothers Group (a firm specializing in buying companies to liquidate their assets) said it will close the remaining 103 stores and sell off the remaining CompUSA assets, including the CompUSA website (compusa.com) and CompUSA TechPro technical support service branch.

WTF?

The only CompUSA near me is a good 15 or so miles away..but it's the best electronics store in the state(plus the 1 or 2 cashiers they ever have working tend to be attractive females !). Decent prices..and it carries stuff none of the other electronics store do..like actual computer components..and a large selection of them.

The new owners should be beaten . I loathe people that buy companies just to sell all their stuff.

They're like Parasites. They literally tear apart a company, and just rip it to shreds. All in the name of a profit. **** buggers.

I don't like shopping at the the one here. It's like Kmart vs. Target. The people don't seem to know their stuff, never a person around to help you, the layout of the store is not logical or labeled very well. Maybe it's just mine.

I'll take Best Buy any day, and if it's components that they don't have, then there's always a little computer store that will fill the gap.

I found $80 in my jeans pocket. The kid in me said "buy nerf guns and candy!" But then the adult in me said "buy vodka, nerf guns and candy!"

Usually when these companies buy, there is not much left to save anyways. They used to have to coolest store right off Michigan Avenue in Chicago.

I shopped there once...they wanted to search my bag after walking 10 feet from the cashier to the door...I refused and told them they better be **** sure I stole something before they got a real cop to forcefully searched my person, because my lawyer would have a field day with them when they came up empty.

fricken Barney Fife wannabe was pissed when I defiantly marched out.

I resent my ***** being searched.

There was a story in the news about that same thing a while back. Kid actually went to jail, because they called the cops, and the kid refused to show his ID, because he said he wasn't doing anything wrong. And he wasn't. He stood up for his rights and went to jail for it.
