Fastest road in the US....

Mentioned on another thread, Texas has a strip of road with the speed limit at 85 mph now.

Hennessey was allowed to play there. (notice the ZL1 at the end)

Yep...we love to speed here in the midwest...and we already had a lot of highways with 80 mph speed limits. Here's a map with speed limit info across the U.S....and Utah is looking pretty attractive these days...lol

You should see some of the roads in western Kansas. You see headlights on cars 10 minutes before you pass each other. You can see the curvature of the earth heading west as the Rockies rise up out of the ground. Speed limits should be 100 mph.

Like speed Suggestion/Limit = 80/100. They suggest you go 80, but you can go up to 100.

I've travelled those roads many, many times and I've always said that Kansas is THE MOST BORING STATE I've every had the displeasure of passing through. So much so that I've never made the drive without becoming drowsy no matter what time of day it was...so being able to get in and out out faster would be a huge improvement!

Holy crap...I was curious why they named it the Pickle Parkway...and my suspesions were confirmed...lol...but while investigating I found this out...

Lippincott says the toll road will be free to motorists through November 10th to get people used to driving it. After that the drive up the full 110 mile length of road will cost $12 for a car.

That's not a toll road...that's an entertainment attraction!

I think the time has come to cruse down there and see my cousin in Austin and give the new road a try! Maybe 90'ish before getting a ticket? We will see. Well it sounds like a good idea since I'm on vacation till Nov 3rd.

11 cents a mile sounds worth it.

Well here's an interesting follow-up. The new toll road was built through an area in Texas that has a huge feral hog problem with a bounty of $2 per tail being paid just to put a dent in the population. They run in herds and are a much bigger problem than deer when it comes to crossing the roadways at night. So the very first day the new toll road Hwy 130 was open there were 4 separate car accidents with one car being a total loss...so Envy ain't ever going anywhere near that $hit.

Here's a news story about it...please watch it if you were considering taking your Camaro down there...and Bucky...don't you dare drive Jade on that highway!
