Supermarket Shopping

Ok heres the delema, if your in a supermarket and you see something in someone elses cart and you like the item is it wrong to reach in and get it. Since the supermarket still "owns" it. Is it wrong to take it out of their shopping cart since they have not "actually paid for it".

I remember a movie called "CC rider" with Joe Nameth in it and he just went in and loaded a "cart" with items and made sandwitch" and then went back thru the isles and put everything back and then paid for a pack of gum..

What are you thougths.

Ok guys this is just an exercise in morality. I would not or have I ever done such a thing. I was trying to get a "response" and I did. Just asking your thoughts.

But....it is a funny idea and something to think about because he is correct. Store still owns the merchandise.

It's not exactly stealing...just a sh*tty thing to do for many reasons...

1. Just because someone hasn't paid for something doesn't mean that they haven't laid claim to it.
2. What if it was the last one and you took it...hence circumventing the 1st come 1st served rule.
3. Most people shop with a list and they obviously have already marked that item off their list so now they will arrive home without it.
4. Since that person knows they picked up the item and put it in their cart...they will now think they are losing their mind...which is not a nice thing to do to anyone.
5. The person will waste their time checking their receipt to see if they were charged for the item.
6. And they will automatically assume that the checker forgot to ring it up and/or put it in the cart so the store will take the hit (in that persons mind) for bad service.
7. And as someone else already mentioned...if my purse was in the cart...you will definitely look like a thief testing the waters IMO.
and the most obvious reason but probably the least thought about...
8. Concealed weapons are legal and people have been shot for a lot less.

I have often seen something intriguing in someone else's cart...but I wait until they return and ask where they got it because it's the right way to do things.

...it's a great way to get your hand broken. I'd break it if someone tried that.
