What Grinds my Gears.

O.K. here's what's been grinding my gears lately. It's started a few arguements with people (me argue...yeah right)...Oh, and I'm f'n grumpy today so it's REALLY bothering me today, especially since someone tried to argue with me about it.

As many know, TV is going all digital in Feb 2009. This gets WAY too much press. Know why? Because TV manufactures pay for the press to sell more HDTVs. The real kicker? THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HDTV! If you don't have an old dial knob TV jacked directly into coax, this isn't going to effect you at all. Most of us have cable boxes and/or satellite service. If your TV works now with these services, Feb 2009 means NOTHING to you.

Everyone is up in a tizzy because they think that they have a year to buy an HDTV or they won't be able to watch TV anymore. This pisses me off because the TV and Satellite companies won't deny this fact, nor does the media accurately report it.

This is Devryn reporting on 12/21/07, and this is what really grinds my gears. Devryn out.

We have digital cable. All we got was a new box..and more channels(to rival satellite). And the TV in the basement we've had since I was in Elem. school.

I agree. People think they have to have a new TV now.

Yeah, it's big time over-hyped.
If you have cable or satellite or any form of subscription TV, you're good.

I was just talking about this at work with my boss today.
She has rabbit ears still.
I told her to "get with the times and get cable you noob!"

I agree with this rant so much! The worst part is for the few that have no cable/ dish. They will be SOL with nada. But I heard that they can get some sort of grant for the channels they had before. More BS forceing some to pay for something else.

It just drives me nuts that people think that Digital=HD, when that's not it at all. Of course, cable companies and TV manufacturers will continue to let you believe that.

If you have no cable or sat I think all you have to do is use a digital ant. instead of an analog one.

It has been that way for a while in the UK.

yes, i'm pretty sick of hearing that too. I'm to the point that if they switched it over and my TV didn't work anymore it would just stay not working. I am basically to the point of not watching TV anyway. I'd rather play x-box, surf the net, listen to music, or go outside and play with one of the auto toys.

I'm with you there. I have never been much of a TV watcher. My main reason for wanting a TV is to play video games.
