2008 is the GM Centennial

Source: Detroit Free Press - Katie Merx
December 30, 2007

As General Motors Corp. begins the celebration of its 100th year this week, the automaker hopes to focus on the technological and business promise of its next century as much as it commemorates its storied history.

GM has been a large force in shaping the American automobile and global commerce, and its executives today have their sights set on making vehicles that redefine personal transportation for the next century.

Happy Birthday GM! Hopefully the Camaro and Volt will raise sales through the roof. If that Volt looks close to the concept, and can really get 40 miles w/o gas then I want one of those too!

Ford had quite a bit of activity in Dearborn for their 100th. I think GM has yet to announce their plans

I saw one of those "COMMEMORATIVE COIN" commercials. Last one I saw was for GM's Centennial. A yellow Z06 on the front and the headlights light up when you pushed a button on the back. $20, silver clad.

GM's plans = build the Camaro near the end of the year.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GENERAL MOTORS!!! LONG LIVE THE KING!!! BTW, how old is that other so-called "American" car company? (toyota). Oh, wait, who freakin' cares??????

Bob Lutz: "There's no doubt that a design-driven philosophy is the only one that will work. People who are not sensitive to design, people who don't care about vehicles, people who view a vehicle as an appliance, they just default to Toyota. We will never win that one."
