Was your first car a Camaro?

How many of you were lucky enough to have a Camaro as your first car?

I learned to drive with a 94 Ford Taurus, but my first car was 89 IROC. 5.7 with t-tops. I regret selling it to this day. It sure was a lot of fun.

When I was really young, I remember seeing cars that the windows "rolled into the roof". I never understood how that worked. I supposedly told my babysitter that I wanted a red Camaro convertible (this was around 87). In the spring of '99, I started looking for any 3rd generation Camaro with t-tops. I found a really clean 88 at a local used car dealer. Red with silver ground effects. It was a 2.8 5 speed. I wanted it SOOOOO bad, but then I started learning more about the IROC's. At first, I didn't care if it was a 305 L03 (or was it LG4?) with 140hp or the "monster" L98/B2L with 220hp, I just wanted an IROC. Then after becoming addicted to CamaroZ28.com, I realized nothing less than the 5.7 would satisfy me. It was September of '99 when I was about an hour away from home and I saw it. I was in love with this black IROC. It was a hassle to get it bought, and my Uncle had to drive it home (my mom wouldn't let me drive it that far - she thought I'd kill myself). I was disappointed at first because it wouldn't start back up once it was in the driveway. After some messing around, it seemed there was a vacuum leak when you'd leave the heater on and turn the car off. If you always turned the heater off, it would be fine. I never figured out the problem. Many many many other memories from that car, but I won't bore you all with them!

I then went through cars in this order...

93 Mustang GT
01 Z28
00 Camaro SS
94 Grand Cherokee
97 Tahoe
91 Z28
02 Cougar
and my current car, 05 GTO

I remember checking out a brand new Bright Rally Red 2000 SS at the local Chevy dealer in the spring of 2000. I thought I was so cool pulling in there with my IROC. I tried to get a test drive by telling them my parents would buy me a SS if I started with my IROC. It didn't work, but I did walk out of there with a brochure (that I still have).

Ordering a new SS is going to be a dream that I never thought possible.

How about your stories?

I wish My first car had been a Camaro... I have never even driven a Camaro, or anything even close to that performance level, which drives me crazy.

I learned to drive on an '02 Chrysler Neon, my first car was a '92 Dodge Spirit, then I had a '95 Talon, and now I have my '02 Buick Rendezvous.

I am itching so hard for my 2010 Camaro SS...

Sweet! I went through a very brief Berlinetta obsession. I wanted that digital dash!

Learned to drive on a 68 Olds with a 455. It was my mom's car. She is 4'9 and it had electric seats so she could reach the pedals. After I discovered "power braking", my uncle gave (for $500) a 1972 F**d Galaxie 500, 4 door, cop looking family sedan with a 351 Windsor (with no guts).

the first car I bought was a 69 Camaro. Sold it .

I have had several cars, but I am looking forward to my next camaro!

Technically my first car was a 1978 Oldsmobile Delta 88, but I only had it for 2 months and never got license plates or insurance for it so I only drove it 3 or 4 times.

So really, my first car was a 1994 Camaro Z28.

I've have read this website for about a year, but this the first time I posted.

My first car was 1980 Berlinetta, I bought it when I was 15yrs old. paid $800 it had blown rear end, put on in from the junky yard. It was real ratty peice of crap but I loved, it had over 200k on it when I sold it, since then i've owned 1973 camaro LT, 92' RS which I sold to my little sister (and she loves it) and now I own a 99'z28

80'berlinetta, 73'LT, 92'RS, 99'Z28...Saving for my 12' Camaro SS
