[Off-Topic] A lil help with my stereo please!!!

I'm going to be installing a new stereo in my boat in the next few months. Right now it only has 4 speakers and on POS deck. I already replaced the existing speakers with polk audio db651s, but I will be increasing the speaker count to 6 when I do the final install. I also will be installing a polk db1240 (maybe DVC?). Here's where I hit a snag. What will I need in the way of amps and crossovers to accomplish this install?

Start with crutchfield.com and talk to a specialist.

For 6 speakers and a sub., you are going to need at least a 5 channel amp, OR multiple amps. The folks at crutchfield will tell you everything you need to know about your question - with no pressure. Hope this helps.

This was also my "Z-28 post." #302

IBM RS/SS: Vortech V3 (7.5lbs/boost) Trinity/Dyno Tune/Texas Speed LT w/Magnaflow Comp MGW Shifter/Tint/Heritage Grill/AVIC Z120 Orion Sub & Amp/Bravado Wheels (20 x9.5/11) Just fast enough ... for now!

Are you going to add another 2 full-range speakers or are you going component?
AFAIK Components are the only ones that need crossovers..and most of those come with them.

Didn't know that. I was under the impression that in a multi amp setup I need a crossover before the amps??? BTW... Yes I'm going to be adding another pair of db651s.

Give crutchfield a call.
I'm not a audio specialist by any stretch of the imagination.

In a Boat or better yet a " Correctcraft " you need a Total of 4 speakers a Head unit and if you want some Bass then a Sub. For Amps you can get away with a 4 channel for your mids/tweets and for the Sub amp you can either go a mono amp for high output Bass or get a 2 channel or 4 channel and bridge it ... if you are lost there get it then ask me whats bridging lol

depending on the size amps ask the retailer or person you buy your amps from for the correct size wire ( in boats you are likely to get radio buzz/interference ) since you have a lot of electronics like guages and etc on board.

Also I dont know if your supra has the cargo space behind the passenger seat or if you are going to be installing the amps and etc below the drivers dash panel.....My parents placed there head unit below the drivers dash panel along with the 2 amps . As for the Sub it went behind the passenger seat where most of the time ski's go. btw they had a 1999 Supra lol

Just look in the phone book for car audio dealers around you or if all else fails you can check crutchfield but they are $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ over priced imo. my other place craigslist.com or ebay you can find some good amps there.

if you need any more help pm me and good luck !
