Hawaii Built

So I'm going to start this thread now because I've got back into the Camaro world.

Quick recap: grew up in North Carolina going to Rockingham and watching all the super chevy shows/races and learned early on GM was the way to go. I got my license and an 89 camaro. Never did anything to it but loved it. Sold it, got a silverado, sold that, got a 98 camaro, rebuilt it (6.0 engine swap, cam, transmission, suspension) was offered the right price, sold it, bought a silverado, sold it, bought a 2011 1SS/L99, loved it, moved to Hawaii, couldn't do much with it here, sold it, got a silverado, sold it, bought a 2013 2SS/RS L99.

I missed having a camaro, and I wanted one, so now I have it again. I've just purchased HP Tuners and am learning how to tune while I figure out the most cost-effective way to get performance parts to Hawaii. After I get this tuning stuff mastered, I am going to start rebuilding this car.

I look forward to the advice and discussions to come.

Haha. It has its perks living here, but what that show doesn't tell you is how expensive everything is.

Just retuned the stock set-up and made a few minor changes. I really like the way the Camaro feels now that I've eliminated the torque management and stiffened the shifts. Feels like a sports car should feel now.

I've been doing some logging of some driving around to see the differences in the tunes and realized that the factory tune was in need of quite a bit of adjustment. I was getting 4 - 5 degrees of knock retard at WOT around the 4700 rpm range. Made a few changes to the spark advance and will probably have new logs later this weekend.

My wideband will be arriving within the next couple of days and I will start to learn that process while I wait for the cold air intake and headers to get on island. I'm sure I will have some questions about the wideband portion of tuning.

I'm definitely enjoying learning how to tune and I even talked a friend into letting me look at his Silverado so I can see the difference in the VCM's.

Yea HGTV has shown some of the different islands there and some single family homes are actually affordable, ive seen $200-$300k, but not sure about taxes and insurance...

The problem with Florida homes which is where I live is property taxes and flood insurance. California taxes were unbearable.

Ive almost decided to move back home to Lexington, Ky. Im heading that way in June for 2 weeks after that trip I will know if im moving back or not...
