had more fun at Sill then any of my assignments... we actually shot artillery there... out in the civi world, its all blanks.... our AT has consisted of : convoy security, infantry tactics, mp procedures...... all 6 years. only 1 year did i get to shoot rounds. and that year i was an E2 and nominated for cook duty (the whole 15 days) i got one day in the feild, and with all the moving around, unload/load 5tons worth of bad ammo..... i fired 12 rounds.

did way more then that at AIT. there was a group at Sill that we went out to field with, we shot well over 200 rounds, all within a couple of hours. thats what i signed up for!!!!! i can still feel the earth shake from that steel rain! if the guard actually did that anymore, then id still be there. instead they want us to park the howitzers and hang outta top of hmmwv playing target driving back n forth thru bahgdad..... ill stay home with the guns... maybe there will be another war, (a real one) and ill sign back up and blow some **** up.

wish i could use my field artillery skills to get a civilian job...

Artillery

You boys should come down to Camp Lejeune sometime - I'll hook you up with some friends of mine on the REAL "Green Side" - they get to blow up choppers & tanks every day....

Hello Gents - As you can see by my post count, I'm new here. A friend suggested I check out this web site since I plan to purchase a 5th Gen Camaro. As luck would have it, I stumbled upon this Army thread. It is always nice to meet other (past & current) brother's.

USA 1985-1994.

My medical career began in the U.S Army with the 5th Special Forces Group / Airborne, as a Medical Sergeant - MOS 18D., trained in medical procedures with an emphasis in trauma medicine. Medical training also included a basic working knowledge of dentistry, optometry, veterinary medicine, and first assistant surgical procedures.

Tours of Action;
First Special Operations Task Force (ARSOTF) August 1990. Southwest Asia.
Desert Shield / Desert Storm - Saudia Arabia / Iraq / Kuwait.
Somalia - Operational Detachment / A Team (SFODA). August - December, 1992.

After 8 + years of active duty, I spent another 12 years attending medical school to become a Vascular Surgeon. It was a long journey, but well worth it.

All the best to those currently serving.
